Pickering Manor is a senior living community that opened in 1963 thanks to the generosity of Newtown resident Henry Russell Pickering, who bequeathed his home and a sum of money for the creation of a retirement center to serve the older citizens of Newtown and the surrounding communities.

Today, this unique, non-profit retirement community is owned and operated by a Board of Directors made up of local community members (called the Community Welfare Council of Newtown).

Although it has grown significantly over the years, Pickering Manor continues to be funded by revenues from its residents and generous donations from individuals, local businesses, and community organizations.  The Long-Term-Care and Rehab Neighborhoods are also Medicare and Medicaid certified.

Our mission is to support the people of our community to achieve the highest levels of independence, personal fulfillment, and continued quality of life.
