There is ALWAYS a First in Real Estate….

This is one of the most ironic things that have ever happened to me in real estate.  As many of you know, I started in real estate over 20 years ago working along side of my mother.  Over the years, she sold many homes and many past clients have become repeat clients who reached out to me as well to buy or sell after she retired.  But that was not the case in this situation.

I got a call in November of 2023 from one of the Downsizers that I work with.  She had gone out to a home and met with the sellers and they were preparing to go into a Senior Living Community.  My downsizer, Marlene, saw that I would be a good fit for their personalities and that the clients wanted to prepare the home for the market to net the most.  The sellers quickly called me and we booked an appointment.

While doing the research to prepare for the appointment, I pull up the tax records and it showed that the home had been listed prior when they bought it in 1995.  I pulled up the old listing and to my surprise my mother, Carol Swain, was the listing agent to sell the home in 1995.  I thought how IRONIC!  The sellers were NOT our past clients as they were represented by a buyer’s agent when they purchased the home in 1995.

I ended up working with these clients to prepare the home for the market.  We lined up all the inspections for the township and prepared so that there were no surprises.  The home hits the market this week and we already have over 25 showings scheduled for the first day!
